Gamal Abdel Chasten began his journey as a storyteller with songwriting and poetry. His work in American Theatre began as a founding member of the writing/performance theater ensemble, Universes. His voice and impact continues to be one of significance as a playwright and arts leader. As cofounder of The Breath Project he has built a national partnership among more than 24 theaters across the country, commissioned BIPOC theater artist, created and curated and annual 8:46 theatre festival and developed an online archive for BIPOC artist to submit and promote their work.
